Here is my home made Recumbent Bike. It only cost me approx. $500 bucks in the1980's, I had a professional Mig  Welder  weld it it together, I put at least 10,000 miles on it from then on. I rode my bike every weekend usually on Saturdays. I rode the bike from Buena Park via the bike path to Balboa approx. 35 mile's one way with a good friend. I took other rides such as a Century but it was more than I could handle. I did try it out on a downhill got it up to 45 Mph and it was very stable at that speed but I put the brakes on quickly. This bike design broke the land speed record. Some animal rode it to the record in Mammoth, not me I think it was approx. 67 Mph, they probably have already broke that record now ! :o)

I also would go to Long Beach to the Queen Mary but most of the times down to Balboa and Newport. I wore out a lot of rear tires the front tire would last 3 times as long as the back tire. I had my share of flats I got smart and started using Mr. Tuffys inside  of the tire so then the thorns could not get to the tube they did sometimes but through the side. I ride it here in Oregon sometimes when there are things doing in town the last time I had it out was last year for the Oregon Race they had here at Fichtner Mainwaring park on a weekend. There were lots of riders here from all over the country even met a person from Alaska here.

I still ride it but not as far any more I  need to get back into shape not as young as I was then. I took it  out today to see the Oregon Cyclists over at Fichner Mainwaring Park on Stewart St. Not your standard Bike in my opinion !
